Victorian Gold, Enamel & Lapis Brooch

Victorian c. 1860          Inventory #BH00163

14kt. yellow gold  BROOCH with exquisite French blue enamel showing cut away gold work embellished by small seed pearls. This 3 dimensional brooch is fine in all its details. The horizontal blue enamel plaque rests atop an octagonal gold piece decorated with gold festooning. The piece rests on a 3rd. gold plaque layer with black enameling. Round and pear shaped lapis drops finish this brooch to perfection. This item is fluid despite the traditional Victorian look. The back is open and possibly contained a frame for holding hair or another treasure and has a chatelaine loop. The pin stem is silver and has been replaced, but otherwise the piece is in excellent condition. It is 1-1/2" wide and 1-1/2" tall including the ball drop. A very interesting piece which includes a variety of design elements from the Victorian period, probably a custom made item...there will be no others like this one $800.00
