Art Nouveau Good Luck BROOCH

Art Nouveau  c. 1900

14kt. Yellow gold BROOCH with a good luck motif. What could be better than a four leaf clover done in iridescent green enamel and topped with 3mm. pearl? A 4 leaf clover atop a golden horseshoe would imbue  more luck. This piece has a silver pin stem and safety clasp and is ¾” tall. The piece is in excellent condition

Victorian Gold and Lapis BROOCH

Victorian c. 1860

14kt. yellow gold  BROOCH with exquisite French blue enamel showing cut away gold work embellished by small seed pearls. This 3 dimensional brooch is fine in all its details. The horizontal blue enamel plaque rests atop an octagonal gold piece decorated with gold festooning. The piece rests on a 3rd. gold plaque layer with black enameling. Round and pear shaped lapis drops finish this brooch to perfection. This item is fluid despite the traditional Victorian look. The back is open and possibly contained a frame for holding hair or another treasure and has a chatelaine loop. The pin stem is silver and has been replaced, but otherwise the piece is in excellent condition. It is 1-1/2" wide and 1-1/2" tall including the ball drop. A very interesting piece which includes a variety of design elements from the Victorian period, probably a custom made item...there will be no others like this one

A nice example of early 20th. century jewelry, this piece features 12, bezel set cornflower blue Montana sappires spaced with 11 creamy white, baroque shaped pearls. 14kt. yellow gold bar BROOCH in a simple style. This brooch features a round, cabochon cut Persian blue turquoise which is crimp set in the middle of the piece. 14kt. yellow gold 3-piece BROOCH set. These dainty pins are also called lingerie pins when they are in sets. In a wonderfully, fluid Art Nouveau design, these brooches feature guilloche enamel in a pale green and yellow color on stylized leaves which almost look like wings. The center of each piece  features a baroque shaped natural pearl . The maker's mark is Bippart, Griscom & Osborne of Newark, New Jersey. Two of the brooches are 1-3/8" long and the third is 1" long. All three pieces have a C-clasp and are in excellent condition

14kt. yellow gold BROOCH & EARRING demi-parure made in the Etruscan Revival style with millegraining, beading & piercing. The brooch & earrings have natural white creamy seed pearls as accents. The real show is in the hand  piercing work and the exquisitely finished gold work.  The  brooch is 1-1/2" wide X 1-1/4" tall and weighs 10.6 grams with a silver pin stem and safety clasp. This versatile piece of jewelry features a classic Greek style shell cameo carved in fine relief encircled by platinum topped leaves and seed pearl accents. There are a total of 22 pearls in all. This piece can be worn as a brooch (complete with clutch) or as a pendant with a fold down bail. This piece is simple and yet elegant and features a 15 mm X 20 mm oval and faceted, prong set medium blue aquamarine, a 11 + carat stone. The bezel has beading and rope twisting accents. Georgian Onyx Cameo Brooch with Pearls & Enamel

Late Georgian c. 1840

14kt. yellow gold onyx and white shell BROOCH. This piece is more than it seems. The lady on the front in Elizabethan garb is exquisitely carved and detailed down to her jewelry. There are 42 natural  pearls in a trefoil shape around the frame. The pearls are surrounded by black enameling. The back is closed and engraved "Mary to J. M. Woodruff" and has a C-clasp closure. What more could there be? The cameo lifts out of the frame to reveal a hidden compartment for a memento, a lock of hair or some other lover's trinket.  A special cameo, this piece is handmade, measures 2-7/8" tall X 1-1/4" wide, weighs 19.0 grams and is in pristine condition

14kt. yellow gold pearl circle BROOCH. A small, yet wonderful piece, this brooch features 12 "flowers" made of 10 small natural seed pearls. Surrounding a prong set and foiled oval citrine is a circle of natural pearls. The pearls are attached by horsehair to a mother of pearl backer, as was typical of this period. The gold safety catch was added later. The piece is 7/8" long X 5/8" high and in excellent condition for its age with no loose or damaged pearls

Victorian Foiled Pink Topaz and Chrysoberyl Stomacher Brooch

Early Victorian c. 1850

15kt. Yellow gold plaque style BROOCH. This magnificent piece of jewelry features two hanging pendants. The hollow, hand worked brooch is remarkably light and fluid and has numerous curlicues. There are 4 oval, closed back and foiled Imperial pink topaz in two different sizes and a closed back, teardrop shaped and  foiled pink topaz in a removable center drop. The topaz are all uniformly pink and in great condition. The center brooch and both drops feature cushion cut, pale yellowish green chrysoberyl as a counterpoint to the pink topaz. All stones are bezel set and held with triangular shaped prongs. The topazes measure 12mm X 10 and  11.75mm X 9.75mm  and 5mm X 14mm, there are 2- 8mm X 7mm. The total estimated weight is 17+ carats.  The large drop is hanging by a braided chain that is quite wonderful in its own right. The piece has a rock crystal compartment on the back and a C-clasp. The brooch is 4-1/4" long X 2-3/4" wide. The center plaques measures 2-3/4" wide X 1-1/2 long (without the detachable center drop). The detachable drop measures 1-1/8" long X 5/8" wide and the attached center drop is 1" wide X 1-3/4" long. The chain on either side measures 2-1/2". There is a chip in the upper left side topaz under one prong and 3 prongs missing in various locations, otherwise the piece is in remarkable condition

14kt., 18kt. and rolled yellow gold BROOCH & EARRING SET. These pieces feature light yellow golden amber loaded with insects. The brooch has an oval  40mm X 30mm amber insert with what appears to be termites. The frame has cross-hatching with rope twisting. The back has a C-clasp and a loop for a safety chain. The earrings are matched perfectly in color with the brooch. The earrings have round amber inserts which are 20 mm. and 22mm. with ants. The earrings feature shepherd crook's backs. There is some crazing to the amber (please remember the age), but overall are in very good condition. The brooch is 2" wide X 1-1/2" tall. The earrings are 1" round. Platinum & 18kt. yellow gold floriform BROOCH/PENDANT combination. This gorgeous brooch & pendant combination has a bit of everything you could want in a piece of jewelry. There is a flower in the center of the piece topped with platinum and holding a round prong set pigeon blood colored ruby. The leaves of the flower are encrusted with prong set round rose cut diamonds, a total of 14 diamonds in all. There are 3 small creamy white pearls representing buds. Suspended from the piece is a 6 carat (1.1 grams) natural pearl. The piece is 2-1/8" long (including pearl drop) and 1-1/4" wide. The sides are nicely pierced and the brooch has a C-clasp. There are unidentified hallmarks (possibly Russian) and unidentified maker's marks. Addition of a chain will make this a wonderfully versatile piece. The brooch/pendant is in excellent condition

The citrine's color is very even and the foil in excellent shape. This 200 year old piece is 1-1/2" wide X 5/8" wide and has the usual extra long pin stem you would expect to see in Georgian pieces. The center of this brooch is a deep forest green emerald 8mm X 6 mm (1.10 carat approximately)- the emerald is darker than the picture indicates. The brooch additionally has 2-15 point and 2-5 point rose cut diamonds on the bar and 8 rose cut diamond chips on the central filigree plaque (shown enlarged). 14kt. white & yellow gold BROOCH with a carved and pierced dark green spinach jadeite plaque in the center. The frame is in white gold and  is enhanced by 6 rose cut diamonds. The reverse is in yellow gold . During the 1920's many jadeite plaques were imported to the U.S. to be made into brooches, rings, etc and were generally antique Chinese pieces. This combination of the antique with the modern clean lines of Art Deco was very appealing. The piece is 2-1/4" long X 7/8" wide and is in excellent condition

14kt. yellow gold circle BROOCH. This brooch features a twisted gold frame around a stylized flower and leaf. There are 3 rubies to give drama to this wonderful piece. The leaves and flower are textured and engraved for a very dimensional look.  Simple, yet divinely dramatic, this piece is 1-1/2" round, has a trombone clasp and is in excellent condition

Georgian Foiled Pink Topaz & Pearl Bar Brooch

Georgian/ Victorian c. 1840

15kt. yellow gold bar BROOCH. This wonderful Georgian piece has a round foiled pink imperial topaz as its centerpiece. It is calculated to weigh 1.37 carats and is 8.3 mm round. The head is 5/8" across. There are 11 natural pearls surrounding the topaz and they are bead set in secure mountings. The back is closed in and was originally a button or ring (as a lot of surviving Georgian pieces are). The mounting was done in the early Victorian period and the length is 2-1/4" overall. The piece comes in an original box and is in excellent condition

Victorian Sardonyx & Carnelian Locket Brooch

Victorian c. 1860 

14kt. yellow gold LOCKET & BROOCH. A wonderful Victorian piece in a flip locket style. The "front" is sardonyx which has been carved with the initials "CRS". The initials are very stylized and could be other combinations of initials. The back is uncarved carnelian. The locket opens and still has one of its glass pieces.  The locket flips and locks in place very tightly. The sardonyx shows as the front, although as a locket, either side could be worn facing out. The brooch is attached and is in a twig and branch motif. The clasp has been replaced with a safety clasp. The original pictures are in the locket and show the same woman, first in a tintype as a young woman and the second as an older woman. Both pictures show the woman wearing antique jewelry pieces. A weighty and perfect piece, the locket could be worn as a pendant and was probably originally a watch fob, perhaps from a loved one. The locket is somewhat older than the brooch. The total length is 2-1/2" long

Georgian Gold & Foiled Pink Topaz Swag Brooch

Late Georgian/ Victorian c. 1840

18kt. yellow gold BROOCH. A gorgeous transitional piece between the Georgian and the very early Victorian period, this pin features a large foiled, oval pink topaz as the central focus. The topaz is mounted in a closed back. The flowerettes and finishing work of the gold are very 3 dimensional. There is a fox tail chain and the pin stem, which is C-clasp, is slightly longer than the brooch. The piece is in excellent condition

15Kt. yellow gold  BROOCH in a special bow shape. This soft look is encrusted with seed pearls and has a bezel set central round peridot. The reticulated ties are also highlighted by seed pearls and finished by 2 round, bezel set peridot. This great look is 1-1/4" wide and 1-3/4" tall, including the drop. The piece is in excellent condition and a great example of the Nouveau look

Victorian Amethyst & Pearl Sweetheart Brooch

15kt. yellow gold sweetheart BROOCH.  A wonderful piece with a 3 carat heart shaped medium purple amethyst, it is truly representative of lover's jewelry from the late Victorian period. To add to the drama, there is a bow and a sparrow with half drilled pearls. A gold ball drop finishes the piece to perfection. Does this mean that "my heart is tied up with love for you and my love soars on the wings of birds?"  You can interpret the message for yourself. This wonderful piece is in its original box, has a engraved date of 1904 (which may not be original to the piece), a C-clasp, and is in excellent condition

Vintage Gold, Chrysoberyl & Sapphire Brooch

10kt. yellow gold flower spray BROOCH. A remarkable piece, this brooch has over 4 carats of cat's eye chrysoberyls  (a stone which is in the same family as alexandrite and rare in their own right) in both round and oval shapes. The colors are light to medium dark green to brownish and all exhibit a "cats-eye" effect, some crisper and more centered than others.  The bow of the piece is accented with 7 white sapphires. A great look at an affordable price, the brooch is 2-3/4" tall and 2" at the widest point. It has a C-clasp and is in very good condition

The opal is bezel set mounted and has great red fire and overall wonderful color  There are 4 seed pearl accents and 2 crenellated balls and the piece is handmade. The piece was made in Australia and has a maker's mark of  "J. M. Mc." A treat to find an opal piece this old in such excellent condition. 15kt. yellow gold PENDANT/BROOCH featuring large faceted, cushion shaped and round clear stones. The stones in this exquisitely made piece are claw set and form a Maltese cross pattern. A wonderfully versatile piece, it can be worn as a pendant or brooch for a very dramatic look. The stones have been appraised as white topaz. This is a wonderful piece and is 2"  X 2" and in very good condition (several prongs have been lost)
