Mixed karat yellow gold nugget
NECKLACE. The gold content includes 14kt., 18kt, 22kt. mixture and all the gold
is a bloomed color. The central plaque is a chased floriate design highlighted
by an oval polished, cabochon cut unusual agate stone in shades of tan and black
surrounded by a small nugget frame. There is a drop from the central plaque with
a teardrop shaped agate stone, also surrounded by a nugget frame. The necklace
is completed with 2 smaller floriate dangle pieces and 2 small oval agate drops
with nugget frames. The chain is a hammered and flattened nugget and ring chain.
The piece weighs 19.3 grams, is 18" long with a 2-1/2" drop, features a barrel
clasp and is in excellent condition. The piece has been made and completed by
hand. The age is estimated by the style of the piece and may be related to gold
rushes in the 19th. century in places such as the Yukon, California, Australia
or South Africa
