The amethyst is a bright violet color and is bezel set. The stone sits above the face of the ring which is decorated with laurel leaves in raised gold. There are two natural round light gray pearls, also bezel set. The decoration on the ring is delicate and made by a craftsman. The rope twisting is carried around the shank of the ring. The French hallmarks are visible on the back of the shank, which may indicate the ring was made elsewhere, possibly Russia or Austria and assayed in France at a later date.
